Blog Week 3

This week President Trump signed an executive order that provides a payroll tax holiday for all American workers. When I first read this headline I thought to myself “ this sounds to good to be true.” Something that sounded like it would actually help people in this country coming from our President didn’t sit right with me. It turns out the payroll tax holiday order has the potential to put more money in workers’ wallets, but it’s only a temporary measure and is something that could have negative consequences down the road. Basically Trump is doing what he has been saying he has wanted to do for a while now which is deferring payroll taxes. The only thing about this order is only congress can decide if people have to pay them back later on in the future. I think this plays a direct role in the election. Trump wants to appear as he’s signing this order to help out Americans during this Pandemic by deferring their payroll taxes, but what he’s not telling people is that they’re still going to have to pay these taxes back eventually. Something like this could definitely persuade the mind of a working-class American who really needs that tax deferral right now coming out they’re paycheck.

This isn’t the only way Trump has been trying to persuade people to vote for him in an absurd way. In a recent tweet, he told the world that it was time for Big Ten Football to return.

I don’t think that voting for a President should be based on bringing back American sports but I must admit he was smart in his decision making. This country loves sports especially college football and with the uncertainty of if we will have college sports this year, telling the world that college is football needs to come back is good pr. I just pray people don’t fall for this trickery.

I can only imagine what is yet to come from President Donald Trump in the future before this election begins but I can only imagine this is only the beginning.
